Heroes of the Night

Night after night, the snow groomers are out and about in Hoch-Ybrig!

Hoch-Ybrig

They are called heroes of the night, the piste drivers in their powerful tracked machines.

Every evening after the slopes close, they start up the powerful diesel engines and work on the approximately 50km of slopes on the Hoch-Ybrig. The claim of our ski area is “The most beautiful slopes far and wide”! This is not an empty marketing claim, but has been our claim for years - our promise to our many guests! In order to live up to this claim, we regularly invest a lot of time and money in the modern machinery of the piste machines.

We rely on the two manufacturers Prinoth and Pistenbully. Connoisseurs often discover that we do not use original piste cutters for the corresponding machines. Yes, that's right. It remains the secret of the Hoch-Ybrig Bergbahnen, their piste drivers and mechanics how we solved this and adapted it to our needs. The result is usually compact and grippy pistes. The most beautiful pistes far and wide!

In addition to the sophisticated preparation method, Hoch-Ybrig can rely on a long-standing team of piste drivers who do this job night after night with great passion. The drivers have high expectations of themselves and often bring new ideas and possible improvements back to the workshop. The mechanics in the workshop of Hoch-Ybrig AG are tinkerers and always open to new ideas.

In this video we accompanied our piste skier Bruno Marty in his powerful machine, a Prinoth Leitwolf. A relatively light machine with a strong cable winch with a 1500m cable length to be able to work the steep slopes in Hoch-Ybrig gently. Bruno lives right in our wonderful adventure region, is a nature-loving guy and has been part of the Hoch-Ybrig piste skier team for several years. We accompanied him on a wonderful winter evening in a wonderful evening atmosphere. Not all evenings and nights are so beautiful - there are also the bitingly cold foggy nights with heavy snowfall. On these days the drivers are particularly challenged to find their way around the many sections of the slope with hardly any visibility and to drive the machines back to the garage in the early hours of the morning without any accidents.
